Campaign

« Back to Glossary Index

A campaign is a planned set of communications, often time-bound, designed to achieve a specific business objective using one or more channels (email, SMS, ads, etc.). Campaigns may be one-off sends (e.g., product launch, quarterly newsletter) or structured as a short series over days or weeks.

  • Examples:
    • Launch of a new feature or product line
    • Quarterly executive newsletter for key accounts
    • Limited-time promotional offer or seasonal sale
  • Relationship to automation:
    • Campaigns are typically manual or scheduled sends.
    • Automations are event-driven, always-on programs.
    • Mature programs use both, with automation handling lifecycle journeys and campaigns providing timely “moments” layered on top.
